Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

St. Bede’s Catholic Primary School is a fully inclusive school which ensures that all pupils achieve their potential personally, spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically and educationally.

From time to time children may need some additional help to access the curriculum and therefore at St Bede's we operate an ‘open door’ policy. Parents and carers are encouraged to speak with the class teacher about any concerns they may have. They will be able to discuss additional support children are receiving. If you wish to discuss your child’s needs further, please contact the headteacher or SENCO (Miss Hannah Rowley) who will be able to talk about how St Bede's can support children with SEND. Telephone number: 01670 822389 or email [email protected]

Our SEN Information Report – which is part of Northumberland County Council Local Offer– provides details about how we support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in our school. Our SEN Information Report will provide details about how we implement our policy and practice to deliver high quality SEN provision for children and young people with SEN.

The school’s complaints policy is on our school website. This includes complaints around SEND and looked after children. A paper copy of the policy can be provided by contacting the school office. Please follow this policy if you would like to make a formal complaint. In the first instance though, discussions with the class teacher, SENCO and/or Headteacher would be encouraged to try and resolve any issues.
