Music
Our music curriculum is rooted in the rich tapestry of local history and designed to foster a deep sense of belonging among all students. We celebrate diversity and inclusivity through meaningful musical experiences—both live and recorded—that reflect a wide range of cultures, genres, and voices. By connecting our students to the heritage of our community and the broader world of music, we aim to inspire creativity, nurture confidence, and build a shared identity where every voice is heard and valued. We aim for our children to sing in a wide range of settings including school events, church Masses, community celebrations and external visits.
Rocksteady
At St Bede's we offer the opportunity to access additional Rocksteady music lessons. These lessons do come at an additional charge.
Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s leading provider of inclusive, in-school rock and pop band lessons designed for primary school children aged 4 to 11. Moving away from traditional, theory-heavy private tuition, Rocksteady teaches music as a language by placing children into small bands from day one to learn drums, electric guitar, bass, keyboard, or vocals completely by ear. These weekly, 30-minute interactive sessions are led by highly trained professional musicians who handle all instruments and equipment. Rather than taking high-pressure exams, students progress naturally through a child-led curriculum. The program primarily focuses on boosting confidence, wellbeing, and teamwork, culminating in exciting, termly concerts where children perform live for their friends and families.
“Music is a necessity, not a luxury.” — Friedrich Nietzsche
